30 Days of Truth - Day 29

Something I hope to change about myself and why...

Hmm... I want to continue to lose weight and be healthier overall and that of course comes with learning to cook healthier and exercising more regularly. Or just exercising in general.

30 Days of Truth - Day 28

What if you were pregnant? What would you do?

I would cry because I feel like we don't have enough money to afford a baby at this point. Then I would cry some more because it would make it even harder to work full-time and go to school full-time. Then I'd probably get excited because I would have another reason to go to TJ Maxx and Homegoods and Target!

30 Days of Truth - Day 27

What is the best thing going for you right now?

The best thing going for me right now is everything! My husband has a new job and he loves it! The semester will end in just over a month! I'm patiently waiting to see if I will be accepted into the nursing or respiratory therapy program! I will finish the medical transcription program in August! Life is good!

30 Days of Truth - Day 26

Have I ever thought about giving up on life? If so, when and why?

I vaguely remember a time in middle school when the thought crossed my mind. I never would have carried through with it though. I wasn't exactly ms. popular. I was never happy with the way I looked. All of the other girls were into makeup and boys. That wasn't me. I felt like an outcast for most of my life. I have never been one to cry a lot, but I did analyze everything that happened to me. Sometimes I just wished that I was a different person or that I went to a different school or that I could just start my life over. I wanted to be so different than the person I was. But looking back, I think everything I went through was worth it. And now I don't really regret anything.

30 Days of Truth - Day 25

The reason I believe I'm still alive today...

That's simple. I don't believe that I've completed what God needs me to do on earth.

When I was in second grade, one of my best friends died from a brain tumor. He hadn't been in school for a while. Our class would send him cards and gifts and we prayed for him every day. None of us really knew what was wrong other than he was really sick. Our teachers did a great job of helping us handle his death. He loved to play soccer. It was explained to us that God needed him to come to heaven because he had done everything on earth that God needed him to do. And now he was playing soccer in heaven all the time. What a great way to paint a picture of death for a group of second graders who really missed their friend! He was happy in heaven and he wasn't sick anymore, and we were happy that he was in a better place.

During high school, we lost another classmate and friend in a car accident. He was one of the most humble people I have ever met. He was always smiling and laughing and always had something positive to say. Again we were told that he had come to do what God needed him to do. He was a great example of how a young Christian should be. He had accomplished so much in his short life. He had learned humility, patience, kindness, love, gentleness, and all the things we should be!

Both of these boys were examples of Christ like no other person I have ever met. I do not have all of those traits. I will be working my whole life to learn them. I believe that you have to learn all of these things and more and exemplify them in your life in order to witness to those around you before you work is done. Only a few special people can accomplish that at such a young age.

30 Days of Truth - Day 24

Make a playlist to someone and explain why you chose all of those songs.

Seriously, I don't know the name of a single song! I have random clips of songs stuck in my head, but I couldn't tell you what they were or who sang them.

30 Days of Truth - Day 23

Something I wish I had done in my life...

I wish that I had been more outgoing my whole life and shown more interest in people and things. I'm not the easiest person to get to know. When I was little, I was extremely shy. I was scared to talk to anyone! Something changed my senior year of high school, and I suddenly became more outgoing. I still don't let people in like I should, especially those close to me. I shut out a lot of my feelings. My mom says I don't have any emotion, but I do. I think maybe I would have more friends that were girls if I actually showed interest in things that girls like. But for some reason I feel like I can't let people know the real me.

30 Days of Truth - Day 22

Something I wish I hadn't done in my life...

That would definitely have to be moving out of a college dorm and into my own apartment. I feel like I missed out on so much fun with my friends because I was 10 minutes from campus instead of two doors down the hall. But this is the path I chose, and I'm satisfied with how things have turned out!

30 Days of Truth - Day 21

(scenario) Your best friend is in a car accident and you two got in a fight an hour before. What do you do?

Even though I haven't really spoken to any of my friends in months, I would most definitely be by their side. No matter what happens, I will always care about them.

30 Days of Truth - Day 20

My views on drugs and alcohol...

Growing up attending a Christian school, I have always been against any sort of drug use. I'm not even a huge fan of prescription drugs or over the counter medications. But I struggled with my beliefs on alcohol use. I didn't really grow up going to church on a regular basis. I just went when my mom felt like going. And my dad never went. I was of course taught at school that drinking alcohol was wrong. But my parents were social drinkers. I was always confused as to what was right. And I was often ashamed for my friends to know that my parents were social drinkers.

I am not a drinker. I've had drinks in the past, but I'm just not a fan of the taste at all. That's just a personal choice to not drink. I'm still not sure where I stand on drinking. I do think it is wrong to be drunk. I don't think it's okay to drink every single day. And I certainly don't think it's right to be an alcoholic. But as far as being a social drinker, I'm just not sure. I just know that for me, the right choice is to not drink.

30 Days of Truth - Day 19

What do I think of religion? What do I think of politics?

I believe that religion and politics should go hand in hand. But they do not. At least they do not anymore. This country was founded on Christian beliefs and on the Word of God. I don't think there should be a separation of church and state, because that's not what this country is based on. How can you separate two things that are so innately tied to one another?

But because people with more liberal views have made their voices heard and made their reasons or points of proof for their beliefs so common sensical, the views of this country have been swayed. In the Bible, punishment was an eye for an eye. If you stole something, they chopped your hand off. You couldn't steal with that hand again! Somewhere along the way, somebody appealed to the emotional and sympathetic side of humans saying the punishment was too harsh for the crime. Now look at how things are going! If you steal today, you get a slap on the wrist and then you can go back home without a single consequence. Sounds crazy, huh?

This country is falling further away from God! If we had listened to our founding fathers, to those who believed in God, to those who followed his laws and not their own, we would not be in this situation. But Americans are Americans because those who came before us wanted freedom of religion and freedom of speech. Maybe some of those people shouldn't have said so much!

30 Days of Truth - Day 18

My views on gay marriage...

I believe in God; the one and only; the Alpha and Omega; the creator of heaven and earth. I attended a Christian school from first grade through twelfth grade. My brain and my heart have been drilled with the Word of God and I truly believe that gay marriage is wrong. According to the Bible, marriage is between a man and a woman. In the Old Testament, God allowed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to be destroyed by fire because of their homosexual sins. I do not believe that gay marriage is right. I do not believe that gay marriage is marriage, even if the law says that it is. I believe our country has become numb to the sins happening all around us. And now our government is saying these sins are okay. God's law is above all. This is how people become martyrs for what they believe in. We are to follow God's law above the laws of this world.

30 Days of Truth - Day 17

A book I've read that changed my views on something...

That would have to be Where the Red Fern Grows. I read this book in elementary school. I think I read it for a book report. To this day, that is the only book that has ever made me cry. Before I read this book, I loved animals and I loved my dog, Bambi. But after reading this book, I had a new appreciation for Bambi. And I see pets in a completely different way. A pet is more than just an animal. They are family. I used to come home after school and tell Bambi about my day. If I had a bad day, I would hold her and sometimes I would cry. She would lick my tears and she always made me feel better. I still love Bambi very much. Even though I don't live at home anymore, whenever I visit my parents I make sure to make Bambi know that I still love her and I haven't forgotten about her. Now she is 14 years old, is on a special diet, and gets sick often. I know that she won't last much longer and I can't help but think back to when the dogs died in Where the Red Fern Grows and how sad I was. Those dogs were the boy's best friends. I cried because I felt so bad for the boy. And I know I will cry just as much when Bambi is gone.

30 Days of Truth - Day 16

Someone or something you definitely could live without...

That would be working all the time, as long as I had money in the bank to cover all of my expenses both necessary and unnecessary! haha Isn't that the dream?

30 Days of Truth - Day 15

Something or someone you can't live without, because you've tried living without it...

I'm going to have to say my friends. Since I got married in June, I have barely spoken to any of them. I already wrote about my experience the week before Christmas at a wedding of two friends from high school. It was just awful. But I think a lot of the reason why it was so bad is that I have really missed my friends since I chose to stop talking to them. I am not going to say that I am depressed, but there are days that I cry about it a lot. And there are days that I get really jealous of them and all the things they are experiencing together. And there are days that I just want somebody to hang out with and something to do.

On Friday I got a text from one of those friends saying that she really missed me and wanted to hang out with me. I didn't reply. Then on Saturday while out with my mom I saw the girl's mom and sister, and then I saw her from across the room. I, of course, felt obligated to speak to her family. But then I felt really bad because I never replied to her text.

The truth is, I miss her too. But I'm just scared to go back to being friends. I'm scared that things won't be different. I'm scared to call and have my friends ask where I've been the last 7 months and what I've been up to and why haven't I answered their calls and texts.

30 Days of Truth - Day 14

A hero that has let me down...

Well my heroes are my dad and my PaPa. And neither of them have ever let me down! I think they are just the most incredible people ever. I miss my PaPa every single day and I wish he was here to see all that I've accomplished.

30 Days of Truth - Day 13

A band or an artist that has gotten me through some tough times...

Well I have no idea on this one. I don't know names of songs let alone artists. I just listen to music haha.

30 Days of Truth - Day 12

Something you never get compliments on.

Hmm.. I used to get compliments all the time on my clothes and how I dressed. Since I gained all of this weight, I have definitely gotten slack on taking the time to dress nicely. I don't accessorize. I don't care if my clothes even match. I just wake up and rush to get ready so that I won't be late for work. I haven't cared in a long time. I think not taking the time to care and not getting the compliments I was used to getting have affected my self esteem. I've kind of gotten in this vicious cycle of I don't care what I'm wearing, nobody else cares what I'm wearing, if they cared they would compliment me, if they complimented me I would dress nicely, but I don't dress nicely because nobody cares. Hopefully I can start getting some of this weight off of me so I can start wearing my nice clothes again instead of just whatever I can find in my size.

30 Days of Truth - Day 11

Something people seem to compliment me the most on...

My hair! I am probably one of the laziest people when it comes to my hair. I have to wash my hair every morning before leaving the house. I shampoo and condition it every single day, which most hair stylists will tell you not to do. I do not towel dry or blow dry my hair. I do not brush my hair. I don't even own a brush. I simply comb through my hair with a wide-toothed comb. And then I let my hair air dry. It just dries into these curls, not kinky and frizzy, but not just wavy either. But no matter what I do, the curls do not go away! I have straigtened my hair before. It takes forever because my hair is so thick, and then within an hour, the curls are back. So it's kind of pointless to even try to straighten it! But I always get so many compliments on my hair because of how thick it is and how naturally curly it is. I don't really care so much about it. I used to hate it when I wanted it to be straight like everyone else's hair, but it is what it is. And I'm finally okay with it! Because it takes no effort!

30 Days of Truth - Day 10

I just realized that I am a couple of weeks behind on the 30 Days of Truth! So here is day 10, a couple of weeks late!

Someone I need to let go, or wish I didn't know...

I don't really have anyone in my life right now that I need to let go. I have already let go of those people. I don't wish that I didn't know them, because knowing them has made my life what it is. I am just glad to say there is now that separation between me and them.
